Great links here for anyone who's not had one of these apart before or has forgotten how it all goes back together ;)

I've now rebuilt my shifter, those links were a big help.
I bought a 2nd shifter- (an ebag bargain shipped via Andy N, ta mate) and I went through both and decided to select the best parts from each to make one goodun.
There were no breakages and both units were working, but some parts had lot of wear and both needed a thorough clean.
Stripping them is pretty easy. Just pop off the stainless dust cover and the pressed steel side cover and wiggle the guts out.
Normally I'd have to leave myself detailed instructions and photos of where and which way round every part fitted. Instead, I just played the youtube links on my laptop as I rebuilt it and had no problem at all :thumbright:
Some thing's weren't as clear as they could have been so I've put some photos here to clarify.

Easily the trickiest bit is getting the retaining washer in for the smaller spring.
I stuck the washer just above where it wants to go with grease, then worked the spring down with 2 screwdrivers until there was a gap to slip the washer into place. I had 3 goes at this before success. Be warned!!

Next lot.

There's a few differing opinions on whether these assemblies should be greased at all and if so, what with.
I love copaslip so I went for that. I won't be off-roading or doing any desert driving, and at present it seems the trans is coming out of the car about every 50 miles so regular servicing won't be a problem...

Last lot...

The worst wear on mine was on the slim bolt through the spring sub-assembly, and the main pivot tube

The stop bolts are just screwed in loosely for now- these are adjusted once attached to the trans.

I'll also be fitting my new longer, more angled shift lever- I won't know if it's right until it's all back in the car [-o<
