Progress continues! Been working on various bits, but nothing finished as yet hence lack of updates. Here's a couple of things that are nearly ready to fit, later style transmission crossmember with a new poly bush, lightened, blasted & detailed.

Shifter before and after Trev's had at it. Modified the trigger with a longer titanium rod so it's easier to use with a ball rather than the original T handle, because that's more suited to my driving style. Couple more small jobs to do on it, and that can go on.

Meanwhile back at OCD central, K Frame thrash. Notched the back for oil pan clearance, cut off the spot welded flange and seam welded all the way round, checked and dealt with any dodgy factory welding, chopped off or tidied up any excess metal, added a tow loop, cut a few holes where I thought I could get away with it and had it blasted. Took about 15 hours work I think, now in black paint and hopefully back on the car Tomorrow. Thought most of what I'd done was largely cosmetic, but turned out I'd lopped off 6lb, happy days crack open another bottle of red....

I did exactly the same with mine but it was a lot more than 6# reduction.

I could probably have got 10lb out of it if I'd been using a motor plate, but I don't want to do that. it only weighed 35lb to start with and it's a structural component so you can't go too mad without sacrificing strength.

Its a good learning lesson reading this thread Blue. Your doing things I would never think or dare doing, that's the difference between the old Pro's like yourself and Armatures like me who only play at it.

Very impressive Blue....this is going to be a fantastic car!!! 6lbs doesnt sound much but I would imagine that when you add it all up, shaving bits here and there, you can make big savings on weight......sounds like it could become an obsession! :thumbright:
