Well I must have been a good boy once, so I thought I would treat myself with a small gauge, as you know I like my gauges and this one will hopefully help me get a tune in these carbs.

....only if you have a full exhaust.

Mine on the Hemi was useless. The sensor was in the header and even with 2 foot long header extensions it was ineffective.

Actually, it was worse than ineffective - it was completely mis-leading: saying the motor was lean when actually it was rich............

It comes from all those years as a pressure head, staring at Oil pressure gauges and giving them the occasional whack... ;)

Got the gauge fitted this morning so I thought it would be rude of me not to wake up the neighbors and give it a trail. Heres a short clip of it running. I will start trying to tune the carbs next week to see if I can get it any better but I am fairly happy with what it was telling me. I know it goes a little lean the first and second time I touch the throttle but these carbs are not know for their off idle response, but it gives me something to play with.

A bit more progress today chasing my large bog when launching, I made some new accelerator cams by modifing the ramps to delay the point at which they start to operate the shooters and also drill out the shooters from four holes at 0.025" to 0.374" but I still think that I need to go larger but will have to wait on new drill bits.

Having a few clearance issues at the moment, as some of you know I have fitted a shot of nitrous to the Dart over the winter and in an effort to keep the rpm down a little I have fitted some taller slicks. the trouble is I now dont have much clearance between tyre and bodywork. I have been told I need at least a 35mm gap to be on the safe side.
I was hoping that I would have enough movement in the rod ends to get this but no although one end was wound all the way in I found that other end the rod ends were only in by four turns  So it looks like I am going to have to get some new link arms made up. Just when I thought I had finished it all for this year :( So if I drop off the bars and mark there total length at pressent and then even up the helms joints thread wise and lock nuts against the bar I should be able to have the new bars made 40mm longer and refit without having to set up the rear of the car again (I hope)

25mm should be enough.
Angle grinder time or you may have to reset the pinion....
