Thanks Chris / Drew....Ive been having a break from the trunk as the weather hasnt been good for welding outside, Back on it tomw morning hopefully.
Bit more progress over the weekend. Found some heavy duty polythene and a locsl furniture store and made up a set of vapour barriers. Fitted the drivers door one and the door felt which was a pain. The originals were stapled onto the top of the doorcard. They must have used a petrol driven stapler as they go through the steel in the strips and the steel casing of the doortop, I used tiny self tapers drilled through the clamped parts. Works fine. I found a tip on a US based site re the vapour barrier....tuck it into the groove along the bottom of the door before taping it on, keeps any water in the door and away from the bottom of the doorcard.
Drained the tank and stripped all the old underseal off in the garage whilst watching the rain, Breaking Bad and drinking Coors. Perfect Mopar day!
Tank primed....just need to test the sender and wiring as gauge not working.....another job on the list!
Been doing some tidying up of the bits n pieces to get the tank back in when Ive finished the trunk floor. Ive ordered an OEM style float from a company in the States and will get everything ready to just put it all together and fit when it arrives.
Thanks to Antons advice, I managed to test the gauge and the sender which all work fine so it was down to a leaky float. Made up a new tank pad as old one bit worn...
Work a pain at the mo but hoping to get some more of the trunk done and finish the door cards off over the weekend
Had a good day on her Friday, most of the trunk welding done now....all the panels in place, just need to modify the trailing edge of the drivers rear wheel arch as I completely forgot about the skirt and it doesnt fit properly...doh!! Will sort that tomw eve then ready for filler and prep for paint etc.
Tank painted and ready to go in when Ive painted the underside of the trunk floor and received my new sender float....big push this coming week to finish this part of the car and move on to electrics.
Cheers Steve
