Thanks - next to no progress made to date - we have been working on getting Roydon's Back-Halved Barracuda ready for Gary's picnic (we got the ladder bars, Axle, Wheelie bars, brakes, wheels back on last night after a rear end gear swap).
Still need to change the Convertor and re-torque the heads so a couple of long evenings still to do.
I got the low-down on the tech for tagging for this class of Track Oiler ("Sportsman").
To tag to 7.50, the frame has to be fit for purpose and a visual inspection from one of the 3 guys who are qualified to do it. This frame has the additional bars that were required in the hoop from late 2007 onwards...
Only restriction on Ride height is that before and after the front wheel there needs to be 3" clearance. This is NOT a safety issue, this is about tripping the timing lights.
With the current 22.5" tall front tyres, there is 90mm clearance at the front and 50mm clearance at the lowest point (the Mid-plate).
Some taller front tyres may be on order soon. The Rears are 33" and new so that's about it really...
As it has a full floor and is not running Nitro or Methanol a Funny Car level Fire suit is not required.
Fire extinguisher is optional - I am having a fire system.
Belly pan and Diaper is optional - I am fitting a tray with oil absorbent matting.
Harmonic Balancer, Flex plate, Bell housing and Trans-shield need to be SFI and in date. Ditto the Harness.
'Chute is not inspected (surprisingly).
The Catch can must be able to contain 4 litres of fluid, so pretty damn big.
No aspect of the motor can breathe to atmosphere....
I will update this when the inspection takes place for all the other "Gotcha's" I have overlooked....
