Screen & dash stripped out ready for the front half of the cage and 'glass dash install. I'll strip out the loom and all the other odds and sods tomorrow. Then I guess I'll be firing up the hole saw again, I see weight...
Back of dash, end mounts bonded on and riveted, Dzus bracket added to mount the electrics panel to, I'll mount a couple of small braces from that to the back of the plenum to stop flexing. Gauge mock up Tomorrow, looking forward to that!
Dzus fasteners are pretty straight forward. The self ejecting type come in 2 diameters, the larger you would use for fitting big panels such as a bonnet, the smaller for the kind of thing I'm doing here.
Both sizes come in various lengths, you measure the thickness of the 2 pieces you want to fasten together and choose the nearest length, you can tweak the springs a little either way so it's not super critical.
Each length has it's own matching spring.
So, electrics panel now fits neatly to the bottom edge of the dash, gauge holes cut and column back in to make the cover panel. Gauges are period Stewart Warner, the speedo is very faded so I have a better one on it's way. These gauges are still made today so the temp. gauge is new. These were Sox & Martin's gauge of choice. Just need to decide which tach I'm going to use and then I can mount that. I have a matching Stewart Warner as well as several versions of the Jones Motrola, which were alway's reckoned to be the very best back in the day, but they weigh a bit. All cable driven of course.
