Enjoying the dry weather and sunshine....bumper back on, side trim on rear quarter on and the tiny bit of 'milking' in the lacquer sorted. I can see the finish line now!!
Will have some time tomorrow morning and Friday afternoon to sort the indicator switch and hopefully finish the interior off on Saturday. Just trying to get some timd allocated to do stuff in logical order as I need help putting the seat in (its heavy!!).
Im toying with putting inline fuses in each of the four indicator circuits to protect that £100+ switch....dont want any more mishaps

To be honest, I would have no hesitation in doing a whole car this way. the quality of the paint in cans is good and the lacquer, though not cheap, is very good and goes on really well. The prep takes all the time, the basecoat and clear go on quickly and as long as you chase the can with a hair dryer, the temp (within reason) isn't a problem. I stand the cans in warm water and while they are warming through, I sit for a while drying and warming the area to be sprayed. I wouldn't try in sub zero temps, or even around freezing but 5 to 7 deg and above seems fine as long as you warm everything thoroughly. I try to do it when the sun is on the panel as well but that's not always possible. The good thing about Winter is that the air is clear with no bugs in it......its great fun!!
Mate of mine paints his cars using a £100 HVLP sprayer that most people use to spray fence panels etc with great results. I would do a whole car this way if I had the facilities as the materials are cheaper in quantity but I don't think the neighbours would appreciate the clouds of overspray
Fitted new indicator switch today. Tested everything again before I connected everything up but lost my bottle and fitted a fusebox between the switch and all outputs.....chicken. Works well and was worth paying more for a quality reproduction switch....twice!!!!
The electronic flasher is great as well...going to replace the one in the Polara with one as it flashes a bit too quickly..
cheers Steve
