There was indeed oil coming out of the breather, as I understood it I have to fill it up until oil co ex out of the filler hole, of should I just put 3 pints in & leave it at that?

I've just had a better look at both half shafts & they seem straight.

One thing I did notice is the section after the bearing is different on them, one has a moveable toothed section almost like a spacer:

You set taper bearing clearance on the RH shaft with the serrated section, you should have taken the retainer off when you pulled the axle shaft. It sets the clearance for both axles across the Diff............

Toothed thing is your adjuster Shaun and should be on the right shaft. Should also be a lock tang that is bolted to the flange behind. :thumbright:

Wow you 2 are in sink tonight!

Defiantly no lock on mine, I presume this would cause the adjuster to turn as well, causing friction.

You only have the adjuster with Taper Roller Bearings, you do not use it with Green Bearings.............

Big debate mate. If you have taper bearings installed correctly they are fine.
Without a lock on the adjuster i suppose it could be tensioning, loosening the shafts at will ???

That could well be the cause of the vibration then! I'll put up a post in the wanted section for the lock tab :thumbright:
