Thanks men, appreciate the nice comments....

Had a couple of hours free today so made and fitted some new rubber splashguards for the inner fenders. Used some nice rubber matting thats used on old landrover floors that I found at a military show.

Cheers Steve :thumbright:

Nice bit of detail that could easily get over looked.
Really impressed how you've tackled the " smaller" , yet important details on this car.
I take my hat off to you Sir ! :thumbright:

Im becoming a right vin licker matey....I love original detail. My mates green Newport is completely untouched original and I really get off on it. We need to photograph all the little details before he cleans and fixes anything as its a great record of how it came from the factory...

Started finishing up the last of the loose ends over the last couple of days....new oil and filter, new dist cap. rotor and leads and made a start to the fan shroud.

I went through the timing as she felt a bit off now Ive driven her a few times. Settled on 14 deg initial and 34 total, all in at 2000 rpm. Wasn't sure if that was too soon and maybe one or more of the dizzy springs a bit light but I took her down the motorway and she pulls great in the higher revs so happy with that. Easy to chirp the tyres round town and pulls great on hill starts with no pinking etc. I borrowed my mates snap on gun....I really must get one, its a great tuning tool. I even used it to check she was firing on all cylinders by sticking the strobe on and clipping it to each lead in turn.

After I set the timing, I couldn't get the revs back down enough but it was just that I had run out of cable. Released a bit at the clamp and was then able to adjust her down fine.

I checked and cleaned the metering rods (1406) and adjusted the idle mix a little leaner as she was running a bit rich. Used my little vac gauge and shes got 18" of vac...pleased with that!!! Slightly better than the Polara. Runs nice now, starts fine....happy days!

Hope to finish the shroud tomorrow and check the axle oil. also need to make a little shield to cover the top of the starter relay and voltage reg as I noticed they get drips of water on them when rainwater drains off. Will make something that channels it away.

Hope to get a few runs out in her before she goes to her new home with my mate Andy in the next few weeks. Pretty sure he will join up once he gets the Mopar bug!!

Well....she's sold. Had a great morning out with my great friend of quite a few years, Andy. We took the Fury out for a couple of hours and, after a baptism with fire into the shady world of all round, non power assisted drum brakes on a C body, he seems to have been bitten by the Mopar bug.

I think Andy will be joining the club and I have reiterated to him that this is a great hobby and the members on here are more than willing to help with any problems that a 50yr old car might throw at us.

Glad she will be staying in the club....thanks Andy and enjoy her matey,

Cheers Steve
