TORQUE CONVERTER I.D

can anyone help i,d this converter,i took this out of a car 2 yrs ago believed to be either 3000 or 3500rpm stall got some numbers on it i cant match up, first lot are written in black pen CTF8TCHS then stamped on the ring gear 5h11 and chrg130

Stab in the dark here, CFT8TCHS could be Chrysler Torqueflite 8 (727) Torque Convertor High Stall, chrg 130 = tooth count, don't know on the 5h11, could be 11 inch? I'd say it was 3-3500 stall judging by the size.

thanks rob, i guess stall speed also depends on power output of motor too, cant work out whether its a tci unit,looks identical with there pics

If it came out of Pete's car it is most probably a TCI, Pete bought a new one off me....

Yes it was pete. I fitted that one he had off you which i believe was 3800 stall

the black marker is just from it having been rebuilt at some time at a verter shop,,,,

that makes sense dunc, certainly looks like its been apart at some point

It could be possible.

I bought two Convertors at the same time.

One threw a Convertor bolt (despite torquing and loctiting) on the 3rd pass.

It actually got loose and it damaged a thread so I sent it to Sussex Autos for a repair. I hoped it just required a helicoil but I guess because it was a blind hole they took it apart.

It must clearly be that one.............

did pete have both off you then ? it was about 2 yrs ago i fitted the 3800 stall one in his car, pete thought the one in the pics came in very harsh, but i put that down to the shifter cable not being adjusted correctly and as dunc informed me when he had the box to renew the spragg the clutches were burnt which when i double checked the linkage it was off by quite a bit

sorry but I cannot remember, I think only one.....I think the reapair was about 70% of the purchase price of the 'vertor......cars, ehh????

i appreciate the input pete, the one i fitted for him was fairly new and all shiny black pretty sure it was 9 or 10" verter

Both were originally black from the factory.

I am struggling to remember where the other one went so it is entirely possible......the Dart ran a 5500 convertor and I still have it.....I have several 8", 9" convertors "in stock"....even the Bee has a 4000 convertor in it.

This is one occasion when Looser is better
