If they are factory originals yes......... if aftermarket No..Ed wrote:I have 2 flex plates, one from a cast crank 440, the other from a forged crank 440. Are they interchangeable? The centres look slightly different but other that the same..![]()
Thanks
NO NO NO NO NO....... Factory are all the same 273 through 440 cept 6 cylinder,,,,, Be told,,,,JerryL wrote:Should they not be completely different as I was advised for the 383.
The 383 forged crank has a 4 arm plate and the cast crank plate is circular with a small section removed and these are not interchangeable for one or other crank type.
Is it not the same for the 440?
when have you ever seen a mopar spider flex plate with weights on come on pete get on clock,,,,,,,Pete wrote:I think 400 is different as it is externally balanced, but stand to be corrected......
Not a chace they are all the same, either small or large thats it,Pete wrote:Well it does not impact on the 383 debate but I think they are materially different , ask Blue.....
nothing really wrong with the original chrysler flex plates, problems arise when engines are out of balance, people sit the mtr on them when out of the car and bend them, or bolts left loose and wreck them, they are fine up to around 500hp, it makes sense to use aftermarket but no essential,,,,Pete wrote:No worries, I would not use them in the first place - I would always use the B&M style full SFI Flex plates anyway, at least they do not fracture in service..........
