Looks great Will! :thumbright:

Are the government watching you yet.........you seem to be able to get your hands on some pretty nasty stuff...... ;) :thumbright:

Serious Q: is it not gonna be a royal pain in the ass to keep it all shiney. I know chrome work dulls after time.........you have some really great intricate stuff going on in the bay?

You still aiming for the NATS a this year, or has the back issue delayed the target dates? 8-)

Moved into a new building on a farm 1 mile up the road :thumbright:

Farm has a waste chemical tank that I could correctly despose of the waste

Scariest 1/4 mile I have ever done to other side of farm

Windows open job

Not rushing do it really nice once :thumbright:

A. Keeping it all shiny is a royal pain in the arse and hate it already
Everything is Alu / stainless steel (not chromed plated raw steel) so lots of polish and wax to keep it from going dull. Also lime power (ground lime stone) stops oxidation but will just keep polishing

Does the Gibbs penetrating oil work? I was just looking it up this evening. Seems miraculous... If you believe it...

By the way this is a thread that I must have devoted hours to reading.

AMAZING!

Can't belive your putting a heater in... Would've thought you'd need AC.

Glad your enjoying it :thumbright:

Gibbs (my understanding)

Basicly it's like putting a rusty bolt in a bucket of oil.

It won't remove the rust but due to the oil surrounding the bolt no oxygen is present so it can't oxided (rust anymore)

We see shinny shiny thing because light bounces of them.

The smoother the more light bounce the more shiny

The ultimate is raw polish Alu but light dosnt Bounce well off oxidation

If you cover that surface in anything (to prevent oxygen / oxidation) it won't refect as much light.

Hence when you spray thing with Gibbs they go slightly dull.

Metal Polish seems to allow more light to penetrate and give a good protection from oxygen.

I can only Imagen that when using Gibbs you would have to strip all the
Gibbs (oil) off the Alu first before giving it a polish.

Gibbs is great stuff and has its uses.
Not for keeping shiny stuff shiny though.
Lots of elbow grease and autosol for that ! ;)

Autosol is ok for a first polish but is very abrasive and harsh and in my opinion doesnt compete in the final results when compared to some others I have tried.

For a far finer and shinier finish I have found Megiures next generation metal polish in particular very very good and does take it to another dimension especialy with aluminium when used after the autosol.

I have heard "peek" is highly regarded in the trucking comunity but have yet to try it myself.
