727 transmission issue

Post by Hemimad »

This year I finally made the Nats, however coming back was touch and go.
A small issue grew bigger, as I would slow down for a roundabout, there were no problems, but halfway around it the transmission would kick down with no drive, as I straighten up it would shift back up and drive would come back. When pulling out of a junction or away from the petrol station, no issues of drive loss or slippage. On the way back, same issues, but after about 100 miles, the roundabout shanakins extended to pulling out of the roundabout and accelerating away with the engine revving without any drive for a second or so, then it would come back. The engine was rebuilt a couple of weeks ago, I am not sure this may have something to do with it, as I put the linkages back as to where I thought they were set.

Any ideas???

First check fluid level.Parking brake on hard, engine ticking over in "D".
Then go through linkage setup and recheck adjustments, especially the kick down linkage.

Fluid level is spot on. What's the score with set up, is the info printed anywhere, not been out to check manual?

Kick down linkage will have a impact on shifting if it's not correctly set up. Multiple threads on the U.S. sites on the matter.
