funny business can occur if its on the un-ported like constantly varying timing at idle.
I'm going to try get this car running right once and for all

So I pulled the car out the other day and checked it with the vacuum on and holding the secondaries shut. Everything seemed ok so I said it take it for a drive to test it out., swapped the new cap and rotor back across and car wend mad, popping out the exhaust etc.
Checked the timing at nothing had changed but the light was flickering and the timing appeared to jump a little. I double checked all connections, still the same. I bearly got it back into the garage. Just had to walk away from it.
I noticed a little play in the dissy before the mechanical advance, is this normal.

Could be the new cap is slightly out of phase? Slack in the dizzy is the slack in it's drive = normal. Other things to try,reluctor gap 7 thou with a non ferrous feeler gauge,orange box breaking down or worn contacts in ignition switch.

I went a little mad and got a Pertronix Ready to Run Dissy, new coil, plugs and Street Demon Carb (Thanks again Miles)
I won'g get into eveything I done, but I got out to the garage this evening had to shave the head a little to get Pertronix the dissy to fit properly, didn't realise it was touching slightly when clamped. I removed the manifold checked gaskets, refit manifold and rocker covers. put new plugs in while I was at it (weird the rear plugs were fouled more than the front, front looked lean)
the only thing I didn't reconnect was the PCV, the hose was braided and on close examination the end nearest the PCV didn't look great. I'll replace the hose the weekend to be sure. Set the timing by vacuum this time and snapped that throttle open a few times all seems good

Cant take her out to test her because my throttle cable doesn't fit the Street Demon great, nor does my air filter. I need to fettle a little and tidy the wiring, only wires dissy and choke loosely while testing. I'll get a filter spacer ordered and crack on hard wiring everything and removing the mopar wiring.
Take her out and set the timing curve, Fingers crossed that's me sorted.
I've accumulated some spares for the shelf in the process too
