Chris, aod auto. Been flying around country lanes toady and the car handles so much better than expected. I'm sure it has updated springs as the ride is harsh on anything less than good asphalt.
Really enjoy driving it,
I'll do an update on any mods. Being a Ford maybe it should be under Alternative Muscle or should it be Workshop?

3.73's will wake it up no end, the AOD cars usually have a 2.73 ratio,1&5/8" shorty headers , off road h or X pipe and cat back exhaust are good items to start with, then 65mm throttle body etc etc, I don't know if the ford Motorsport GT40 intake is still available but you might pick one up second hand they work well although there's probably loads more different ones available nowdays :thumbright:

Cheers, that's pretty much what I have in mind.
Gears, cold air kit
See what the et is and then save for the next level-heads and intake
GT40 stuff looks good, but can't seem to find anything in the UK so eventual Trick Flow or Airflow aluminium heads would make sense.
Reckon that's for winter as I have some fettling to do, door catches, tyres and probably cat back exhaust.

You should be able to loose the cats, there are no sensors in the system after them, just before them. So removing them shouldn't effect anything

Got quoted min£500 up to £1000

What's the best way to get an exhaust over here. Ron?

System are cheap but post and tax doubles it.

Yes, Ron is probably the best route if you're looking at bringing an aftermarket system in

That's why I said that the best route to take is an 'off road ' h or X pipe which is the centre of the exhaust system between the headers and what's termed the 'cat back ' part of the exhaust , 'off road' is the term that's used in the states for without cats which means it's for off road use only . I used BBK 'shorty' headers ( un-equal length 1&5/8" ) BBK off road 2.5" H pipe , and flowmaster American thunder cat -back exhaust in 2.5"

On reflection and lots of reading I decided to retain the cats and ordered form Walkers/Dynomax.
It's been nice working on a car without stinking of fuel. Even with the AF perfect on my Roadrunner a few minutes tuning required a change of clothes
