Thoughts on Carb/Spacer/Scoop
Moderator: Moderators
Personally I would ditch that spacer, I very much doubt it's any kind of help. I would use a 1" plastic 4 hole spacer, partly to keep the carb cool and also to help with fuel line clearance. With the correct Holley throttle linkage bracket the kick down linkage should fit.

Not really, just working out what works for you,Few of the above opinions are set in stone, just preferences. The one thing that is not opinion based but is fact is that you must have a kickdown cable/lever connected on your trans mission to keep it alive.
When you have full throttle the kickdown lever should be pushed back towards the bulkhead of the car. Easy to check and adjustment is available.

In past week or so the spacer has been ditched, kept the holley, reconnected the kickdown ... car runs and drives a lot smoother, have been putting it through its paces ... some slight hesitation around 2000rpm when accelerating, and slight murmuring/backfiring on decelerating, so some fine tuning still to go
plus i am left with a massive hood scoop which hides an ugly hole that had been handcut into the bonnet to permit the raised air cleaner ... not sure whether to ditch and look for a flat bonnet or leave it for rat rod effect

My car runs at about 3000 rpm at 60mph and has a 3.55 diff in it.
You probably have a 3.2 ish which is good for cruising on the road. I don't think the 7 1/4 diffs are very strong + of 250hp, thats what I have read anyway. I would break it first then replace.
Scoop you should keep, part of the car.
That spacer I would bin and use as a telescope (it is huge!)
I would invest in a better return throttle spring, the one on your car looks stretched and not up to much, you don't want your car sticking on full open throttle (one of the first things I changed when Blue saw my car 2 years back).
Spend time with it, get to know its sins and good points and you start a journey of making the car yours, more reliable and a buzz to drive.

this was the first thing dave81 said to me when i called in friday mid-roadtrip, i actually have a better condition spring but the sizing is different, advice was to run two concentric ...GJUK wrote: I would invest in a better return throttle spring, the one on your car looks stretched and not up to much, you don't want your car sticking on full open throttle (one of the first things I changed when Blue saw my car 2 years back).
