This place is very much a warm, welcoming group who through various shows and active posting you get to know the individuals on a personal level.

I've never seen anyone be ousted or left out due to being new, young, old, female or any religion or race.

Due to its name it is also a relatively small community who like others have said have many commitments. General rule for me has always been give it a week. Many don't log on during the weekend due to family, some don't in the week due to work.

Give it 7 and most will respond. It seems to me that a helpful member of the forum has done so, even offered over and above what happens on many forums.

Don't really recognize your username, but a post with the title 'Crap Site', will get most peoples backs up, especially a club/forum like this and a unknown poster.

You get out what you put in for the most part.

Without this place I'd have been up creek a long time ago......But I post often (usually drivel), I've put up a workshop thread for people to follow what i'm doing, and I make sure that I actively attend a few shows a year.
People know me by face and name and car. I also in return have helped others where I can........but I don't post on threads where people have issues and I don't know the subject matter (Carbs being one).

Constructive post about the forum numbers and seeking advice would have been the way to go.............. :thumbright:

You got the help you required on your original post about the carb vac. It was you that posted this 'crap site' post so don't moan when you get people defending their club/site. I've only ever been on two forums, this one and pistonheads with my last car, and it's always slow when you first post and it took a while for my first replies to come through. I only joined the pistonheads forum because my car developed a problem and after a google search it directed me there, due to the help, advice and people I met through the forum, not to mention the meetings I found out about and got to go to I got more involved. Of all the cars I've owned I've had the most fun with my last one being on the forum so that's why I joined this one when I bought my Mopar. Give it a chance mate and you'll get so much more enjoyment out of your first American car and meet people and go places with like minded enthusiasts :thumbright:

i still regard myself as a newcomer here ... tend to keep a low profile although have met 1 or 2 or half a dozen of you ... a few threads do go unresponded every now and again, a couple of mine, i figure thats just how all forums are, a quick bump usually gets a response, if its important ... i have to say that nearing the end of my second year aboard, will definitely be renewing, great info on the forum, unquestionable amount of expertise, lots of good viewpoints, strong characters ...

yes and that's OK

its a simple forum deliberately to appeal to all levels of IT literacy.

mate lets just start again..... don't leave before you even get going...

if you need advice stick it in the section most suited and someone will respond.

the cars have their peculiarities but in general what worked on a Cortina or Viva works on these. You just have strange suspension and a few more cylinders, and some of the parts take a bit longer to get hold of

other than that expect the same issues when running a car that's 40 + years old, regardless of its origin.

would suggest getting your springs rebuilt re arched to correct ride height and re-tempered in the UK. the original steal may well be better than anything new and it will cost less.

any vaccum pipe at carb that's not connected needs to be blocked off

distributor always goes to the thin pipe that enters body above throttle plates so that it see's no vacuum when the throttle is closed

all other pipes are for systems that run on vacuum like brake booster PCV and perhaps your headlamp actuators if they flip up and down or aircon control they are all entering a carb under the throttle plates so they see max vacuum when the throttle is closed.

if you have an air filter that has vacuum operated flaps in it for faster warm up, that vacuum pipe tends to be below the auto choke plate and above the throttle. but that stuff tended to be only on cars for extreme cold climates Canada and Alaska

a RHD C body could have origins in Canada it is unlikely to be Australian if it is 2 door and yes it was probably sold by Warwick Wright.

it might also have come through Chrylser Europe but I think it would still have been sold By Chrylser UK and therefore Warwick Wright

you might find that body stamping or paperwork stuffed under the springs in the seats indicates it was some kind of special order. decoding your VIN plate will help

think the only USA RHD cars where barracudas

This is exactly why I love this site and hold our members in such high regard. Most sites would have been happy to show you out of the door for this attitude but the following has happened....

1. Terry has helped you. He is an extremely knowledgeable man and is beyond talented when it comes to fixing Mopars. He doesn't throw his ability in anyones face, he helps (and has helped me to get on the road) , is great company and is a gentleman.

2. Pete, our chairman (also a very experienced car builder/ racer/ tuner) has offered to iron out any issues you may have personally.

3. Several other extremely gifted members (Blue - fabrication, transmission building, carbs...everything), Dave (electrical guru amongst other things) to name a few, are trying to encourage you to get more involved and be positive.

If this discussion was taking place over a pint at the NATS, we would all tell you that we may have just got off to a bad start, shake hands and start again as we all enjoy the same things in life. Most of us are 'mature' in years and are not the slightest bit hot headed or petulant. A visit to our stand at the NEC (an extremely busy period for the club) this weekend would have afforded you the opportunity to meet some of our members and get involved with the club.

If the club isn't for you and you aren't happy with the people on it then good luck and hope you find the help you need elsewhere. I would, however, suggest that you will find it difficult, if not impossible to have the access to and friendship of the talent we have here anywhere else.

You obviously have skills in fabrication and welding that would benefit others (especially me as I am a novice at welding etc). Get involved, enjoy and get to know people on here....you wont regret it.

Hey Walder....good man and that car does sound unusual! :thumbright:

Right...sorry if Ive missed it but I would love to see some pics of your car etc and some specs of it please.

There is a guy I know in Birmingham who loves all things C body. Hes not a club member but is very enthusiastic about them and knows them inside out (especially 69 to 72) . Hes a great help and a font of knowledge if you need anything.

I have a good friend in Canada (Winnipeg) also a C body man (383 69 Monaco). Another wealth of knowledge. If they can help Im sure they will. Just takes a few days sometime to get the definative answer so you dont get wrong info.

Cheers Steve :thumbright:
