header,batt cable & coolant!

Post by Coupe66 »

Hi all,

Just need some help, was looking at changing the position of the battery negative cable over the weekend. It's currently bolted to the front most bolt on the headers and it didn't seem the correct place for it.

I undone the bolt and coolant poured out so it went back in rather sharpish!
I've noted that the front has a hex head bolt and the others have studs and nust.

What is the correct position of the cable and should the bolt be a stud as the others with a sealing compound. Car is a 68 charger, with 383.

Cheers

Should all be nuts and studs from the factory, and they all go into the water jacket on a stock head. The earth strap should bolt to a boss on the front of the head I reckon, Have to wait for one of the resto guys to give you a definative on that.

I'm with Blue and in addition I'd check/fit an earth strap from rear of bell housing to the bulkhead. many cars came with theses as stock. More earths the better.

I bolt mine to the motor mount, metal adapter on side of block, not the rubber biscuit.
