Chevy motor and 9" is a good call Neil, A body engine bays are far from roomy, Chev is FAR more compact than a "small" block mopar and you can get loads of value for money performance from a Chev. 7 1/4 axles snap like carrots and 8 1/4 A body axles are like hens teeth and cost more than the national debt!!!! Why dont you also consider junking the ridiculous torsion bar front end whilst you are at it, those damn "Springs" get in the way of everything LOL :o
cheers and yes the engine bay is quite small. i put a 440/727 in a 65 dart 4 door a few years back, that was a squeeze. it took me nearly 3 days to make fenderwell headers i was happy with at about 36" primary length. made a nice car of it though, it was much faster than either the handling or brakes even with a scorpio granada disc front conversion and bigger rear barakes that came with the dodge diplomat rear axle i fitted.
i could have gone low deck big block as i was offered a very cheap 383/727 but i have the chevy stuff and it'll make more power for less money so.......
i'll still buy the 383/727 when i have the cash of course.
the 9"? well i have it in stock and it's 52" wide to the wheel mounting flanges (about 1/2" more once i've slid discs over the studs) so i should be able to fit the 10x15 slot mags i have under the arches. i have some 8 1/2's if they won't and a matching pair at 5" for the front. yes they're old school but i love slot mags.
regards, neil.

It looks that way, it'll need to 'look' stock though.

You will get a 10" rim in there with a mini tub and the springs moved in with the axle narrowed to a suitable width. You will need a full tub to have the rear at stock or lower than stock ride height.

so i got in from work and it was like christmas again :D
the o/s headlight bezel was here from pennsylvania, the chinese turbos from leicester and perhaps least glamorous but very important the manual flywheel from sevenoaks ;)
just the chinese stainless headers from california and the flywheel balance plate from speedway motors in nebraska.
this really will be an international build, more so if i get some black leather seats from a 'luxury' german anonobox via the breakers

today's delivery was the balance plate from speedway motors. this is sandwiched between the crankshaft and the 350 neutral balance flywheel to simulate a 383/400 external balance flywheel. the advantage is the 350 flywheel is lighter than a 400 one so the engine can rev quicker.

Interesting build thread. Cool Cool Cool. (Smiley gone.....) Just found it. This forum is no good on my tablet.....😎😎😎😎😎 Aha. Just found portrait mode which don't suit my tablet as it's stand is in portrait mode, good job I don't post much.....😥🇬🇧😘😨😲 Looking forward to see how your HoMo works out.....Over here a Holden is a Chevy. Peeps put Holden's in Mopars. They become HoMo..,... You would not believe the arguments putting an LS1/2/3 in a Valiant! Cheap as. Do it. The only way to go fast on a budget in Australia. Unless you go Turbo Barra. Another story.....
