Nice one Steve, great to have a garage eh? All looks very familiar, we’ve been involved in some pretty major building works this last year which includes a garage. Never been able to keep a car at home before so I can imagine the satisfaction.

It sure is Blue, a dream come true to have my car in a garage at home. Seems such a daft thing but its the icing on the cake for me. When I moved, I had one 'must have' and that was a garage....but.....I fell in love with the house instantly and just completely forgot how much importance I had put on having one. This has just made it perfect now. Sounds like we will both be achieving a dream if your garage is at home too :thumbright:

Roofing arrived yesterday, thats the last heavy job but still some prep to be done before I start fitting it. Expensive stuff so I dont want to mess it up :read2:

No damage to the garage, lost a few slates off the roof of the house but thats it thankfully. Lots of trees down, power out for a while but all ok in the big scheme of things up here. Hope anyone else affected is ok. I know Northern Ireland got hit badly so hope gmopar59 is ok.

Thanks for asking :thumbright:

Beautiful work, glad to see you didn’t waste time trying to get the render off the house wall, that stuff is tougher than granite. Will you do any insulation for when you’re working on the car over the winter?

Thanks Matthew and agreed, the render is hard graft so its staying on. I obviously cut channels into it to ensure the vertical wall ties bolted securely to the existing wall. Angle grinder with a stone cutting disc worked fine.

I will research insulation. May well put something between the rafters (that silver coatet slab stuff...name escapes me) but not sure yet.

Big day tomorrow as Im putting the roof on. My neighbour has a skidsteer and will lift them up onto a platform I made so they are horizontal and safe to work with....watch this space :thumbright:

Between showers today, I put the frosted perspex windows in the doors. Really pleased with them as they let tons of light in but offer privacy too.

Insulation is expensive but I’d definitely do it if you can Steve, walls as well. It’s not just about keeping heat in or out, it stops condensation which is something you really don’t want in a workspace. Due to building regs we had no option but to use 150mm of insulation on our project which includes a garage.

Thats a great job Blue, looks fantastic. I will probably do the roof but not the walls. I have plenty of ventilation so hoping condensation will be minimal but wont know until its all done. My building warrant doesnt specify it so there isnt any pressure on to do it before being signed off thankfully

Good feeling to get watertight eh? Funny thing condensation, I used to have a well ventilated place that was awful for it and my present place has neither ventilation or insulation maybe it’s because it’s mainly wood?

I hope its watertight, will soon find out when the next storm comes along. Will be doing the flashing and soilpipe collar tomorrow then it should be.

Everything gets wet here but usually blowing a gale so hope it will be manageable. The garage I rented in Birmingham was concrete under an OAP home. Metal folding door, no ventilation and it was absolutely bone dry .
