Grace is my mate Colin’s daughter, she’s a very talented fabricator & welder. Loves her car & racing, she used to do the clutch in one of the funny cars, but mainly crews for Don these days

Productive day today, quick mock up to see If I can figure out how to run that fuel line forward. I don’t like sharp bends as they are real flow killers but space restraints mean I’ll have to come out of the pump with a 120 degree fitting, I’ll at least use the ultra flow version.

Blocked the fuel feed on the new sender unit and fitted a proper earth.

As a bit of a nod to Grumpy Jenkins who used to paint his fuel tanks white to reflect heat from the tarmac…

I got warned by a top end Marshall last time out that my bonnet was lifting a worrying amount, so I’ve reluctantly fitted hood pins. The correct Mopar style of course…

Pump to regulator line is in, I’ll get some heat sleeve for the section that runs across the engine. Just tank to pump to do now and that’ll be a wrap.

Gained myself a little more space by moving the brake line from the rear of the axle to the top, I’ll remake the line to make a neater job of it over the winter. I cut the piston shields off the shocks as well while I was at it.

Will the pump be extra noisy mounted on the tank Blue?
Can you isolate it a bit with rubber spacers?
Or have you got the only quiet leccy pump?
:D

I’m sure it’ll be plenty loud Stu, one of the reasons I didn’t go electric sooner. There’s just no space to rubber mount it but if previously experience with rubber mounted Holley pumps is anything to go by it wouldn’t make much difference anyway. Given the constraints I’ve got to work with it’s the best I can do.

Yes, I suppose an in-tank pump would be best but would mean a baffled tank etc so lotsa $$$

That’s the way I would have preferred to go, virtually silent. Would have come in at close to 2000 bucks when I looked into it, no thanks.

Last couple of bits finally arrived so that’s it done. I’ve got pressure, and it doesn’t seem to leak so that should do me for the foreseeable.

Not only that it’s not especially noisy, possibly down to not having metal fuel lines perhaps? Tried to add a video but it won’t have it…

So, just got back from the Hot Rod Drags. After some initial sodding about I have a solid 6psi fuel pressure at all times, spot on. And what did all this gain me? Zip, zilch, nada. In fact it was a tenth and 2mph slower than last time out, this might have been due to the weather but I was expecting it to perform better.
