indicators for M.O.T

Some good suggestions!
I've always kept my rear indicators stock and never failed an MOT. Also never got pulled or had any trouble with people not seeing them.
However, during the rebuild I did add an extra wire into the harness which I can use to provide a seperate rear feed to the RHS reverse light so I can swap them to indicators 'temporarily'!! Same idea as Dave with the switch if necessary
It really annoys me that they suddenly decided that something that had worked fine for years was now illegal. There's nothing that RUINS the rear view of a Yank more than horribly bodged-on rear amber indicators
Anyway - a question:
Legally, I thought that not only do you need to have amber indicators but you also need to disable the flashing 'brake light' indicators? i.e. you can't just add ambers. Is that correct??

yes you need to take a feed straight from the brake switch .
I came up with a cool soloution to blinkers but never got around to trying it, you know cars have popup headlamps, like umm, nissan silvia for instance, i t wouldve been cool to have some pop-down indicators that come out under the bumper when you turn them on.

I like that!
BTW I have it on very good authority that a new model Fiat(I'm not sure what)has recently been type approved with flashing brake lights for indicators. Europe wide approval. Can anybody find out more on this?

Have to say, The Barracuda went through MOTs fine. We converted to amber by choice because we didn't want the problems of getting pulled by over zealous John Q Law. Get enough problems with em anyhoo without giving em excuses...

24 hours in a day, 24 beers in a case. Coincidence? I think not…

I'm sure when I looked into this a few years ago, I found that the main front & rear indicators had to be something like 20W, whereas the side markers of the time, that could conceivably be used as 'bolt on' amber lights for those wishing to get a bit more legal, were only about 5W.
So never did fit any extra lights cos anything that wouldnt be too big & ugly wouldnt have been bright enough.
