I made up a unit using 2 four pole relays so that by the flick of a switch I can go from stock flashing red to legal flashing reversing lights with amber bulbs.Comes in handy when towing, cause I dont trust Joe pubic folowing a caravan with flashing red lights..Mind you,a good mate who owns a 70 GTO and is a tester also helps .
i like that idea!!RichDeb wrote:I made up a unit using 2 four pole relays so that by the flick of a switch I can go from stock flashing red to legal flashing reversing lights with amber bulbs

i didn't do the mod, t'was like that when i got it ...Clivey wrote:that makes no sense at all. Are you saying, disable the red flashing indicators that are original, change reverse lights so they flash, and install an amber lamp, so, no reverse lights, just oddly placed amber indicators with clear lens?????
still planning to put it back to original when i get a mo
saw a lime green Road Runner on the M6 the other week, had the same set up

rear indicators
hi all
on vehicles used before 1st Sept 1965, it is acceptable for a direction indicator lamp to be incorporated with a stop lamp.
combined lamps
stop lamps or direction indicators maybe combined in the same housing as front or rear position lamps.
(reason for rejection is: adversely affected by the operation of any other lamp, e.g dual function lamps on foreign vehicles.)
IN OTHER WORDS PRE SEPT 1ST 1965 IT'S OK,
AFTER THAT YOU MUST HAVE SEPARATE AMBER INDICATORS.

I've never had a problem either on anything other than newer rams which have to have the light mods done anyway, last older one I took for MOT was an 85 airforce ram and that passed with red indicators although the tester hated that POS with a vengence and couldn't wait to see the back of it.
Guess everything has changed with this computerized junk MOT.
On a slightly different note VOSA has changed the deal on the sva for newer pickups, it used to be you booked it, made a vin plate and turned up to be weighed, NOW because of idiots lying about the GVW to escape the test and save £60 (if the vehicle is under 3500kg no test) you have to either supply a letter from Dodge stating the weight (yeah right) or supply a brochure with the weights listed and also a picture of the original VIN sticker which by the way they won't take as proof of weight alone.
Luckily I have a brochure from the very last few months of the 94/2001 model so i'm hoping they take that as proof for my 97 3500.
I know this is in the wrong thread but if anyone needs pictures of the brochure as proof for all oblong model rams I have the ness pages that I can email
