Paul have a word with Franco at the next meet. He has everything you need already fitted to his car. He isnt using it & has removed the bottle. If you put some folding his way I am sure you could get it ;)

Got me a ginormous nitrous bottle :D

'Hatton Enterprises' is Bob Hatton apparently, anyone know the name?
I've found another interesting motor with his Nitrous equipment...
http://www.rktuning.com/car%20specs/firenza_txt.html
His gear also features in this Street Machine article-...
http://www.fiesta-mk1.co.uk/magazine_ar ... 80_pg1.php

I had to laugh when i saw the logo...is it me or is it just the tiniest bit suggestive?

Now, a bit of help please folks...
-The pipe fitting looks to be some sort of clamp-on arrangement- there's an O-ring around the opening but no thread. There's a machined dimple on the rear of the neck which is clearly for a locating screw. Is this sort of fitting still available?
-What quantity will this hold? It's 24" long x 7" diameter.
-It's a Luxfer bottle, stamped and stickered 1980. Will i need to get it tested or will they be happy to fill it as-is?
-Do the various stamps mean anything i should know about?

Thanks :thumbright:

Hatton enterprises were around a long time ago - don't know if they are still going but I think they were a bit of a pioneer with Nos 20 years ago .

Nothing personal DB but have you been down the strip before and if so how fast.
I dont know much about your converter or car weight but you've got quite a stout motor there and if it's light, it will probably go 11's even without the sniff.

Hi Mick- glad of any advice mate :thumbright:

The N2O is completely unnecessary i know, but it's just something i need to try.
No, never been down the strip before on 4 wheels, only 2.
I'll get a bit of experience without the gas first ;)

no idea about the bottle stampings

i'd suggest that you would want to rid yourself of that valve and get a nice new one put on.....
but only after having it tested....otherwise waste of cash

1) it will have current safety disk for explosion protection
2) you will also find out if that bottle has a syphon tube which will dictate how it can be used
3) will have a guage port so you can put on a guage to see what pressure is contained within

local fire extinguisher place can tell you all about valves safety and how to get bottle checked.

find out from local dentist or hospital where they get their laughing gas from......

local supplier is always handy...and will of course have to carry spares to repair valves on suspect returned bottles (mainly from the NHS and universities)

approx
15 litre tank
1 cubic foot...

how much you can store in there is based on what pressure the tank can take and i'd rather not hazzard a guess.

it would be rated orginally to take a specifc volume of gas at a specific temperature, probably at room temperature (21*c) with some headroom to take into account hot hot conditions
so if filled at room temperature from a larger tank at appropriate pressure it will reach equlibrium and not be over filled

if you cool it

you have to fill it to a specified weight.... because in colder conditions the equilibrium that keeps you safe at normal room temperature can be passed quite easily. low temp gas takes up less space so you can fit more in....until its warms up...then you may have an issue

i.e you can fit more weight of gas in the colder it is
a great way to quickly fill a bottle if you know what weight it is allowed to contain and can contain safely

but you don't yet know this weight (or actually mass)....

it can be worked out
but
1) do i trust everything i read on the internet ....no.
2) do i trust myself to get it right...no
2b) can i remeber the approrpaite equations based on mass and density volume the molecular mass of nitrous oxide....arrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh no.
3) do i trust you to belive me whan i say this is just a guess.....probably

but either way take everything i say with a healthy does of saxo
