I mainly fit Baxi boilers, much prefer them to the Worcester Bosch, but that's personal preference, the Worcester is still a good boiler, vailant are good too just usually a bit more expensive

Galv steel is the best job but if your not wanting to cut and thread John Guest make push fit plastic pipe and fittings especially for air, it's blue, used it on a few jobs seems pretty good and very easy to do, the pipes pretty rigid not like hep2o

Had something similar on our 06 diesel 300, took it to a local garage and it was still £1500, that was a few years ago now, can't remember the exact diagnosis, good luck and hope you find a more reasonable quote

Sounds like a push button trans as Pete says, as far as I know there is no shifter that will fit, you'd have to change the transmission to a later style 727, nothing wrong with the push button though if it all works, I ran 9's shifting with the push button, took a bit of getting used too but worked ...

I had the 572ci coronet that andyrob has now on the rolling road and it made 592hp at the wheels, the motor was dyno'd when it was built at over 800hp, that's through a 727 so I don't think yours is far off where it should be

Stock efi Pete, if your using a carb and manifold you may as well use a 440, the drivability etc of the new motor comes with the modern electics. Not easy, cheap or to everyone's taste but 450-500hp and 20mpg is not possible with a carb as you know
