Back to the starter, Blue, Chris mentions Thermotec which is what I used. When I took the starter out recently there was no sign of heat damage and the insulation material was unmarked. There is literally only enough space between starter and headers to fit the termotech material, but seems good.

Those headers look lovely with the coating... :thumbright:
will the trunk be glass? or do you need to keep weight at the rear?

Tyre clearance at the rear is tight so time to deal with that.
Street tyres would be OK but you have to have space for slicks to grow in diameter as RPM increases.
I like to see 1.5" to 2" clearance and I didn't have that at the front edge. After a bit of trial and error and a few goes I got a shape I was happy with.
Made a cardboard template to get the other side the same, took a deep breath and had at it with a cutting disc.
Welded in a new return, trimmed to shape and it's pretty much done. I'll do the other side Tomorrow.
I'll trim the rear edge a little to even things up when I do the rust repairs on the lower 1/4".

Good progress.

The interesting aspect for me is whether the gap will be the same on the other side, given Ma Mopar's legendary build quality.

It's not but I'm measuring from the tyre so it will be when I've cut it.

Still not made my mind up Jeff, blue is favourite but I still keep looking at the golds and burnt orange and I really like Rallye green....

Might have to enlist your photoshop skills at some point.

GOLD GOLD GOLD! all this thumbs up for Gold will probably put you off it... but this standout build deserves a standout colour.

The line you cut looks bang on...

Great talking to you on Saturday and getting a chance to the V in the flesh... and a huge thank you for my horn button and extinguisher.
